Effective immediately, due to sharp price increases in the steel market, the prices of the scrap metal have increased 130% in the past 9 months. Steel producers have been passing on their cost increases in a form of a scrap surcharge to their customers, which in turn they are passing on to us. The size of the surcharge will depend on the market conditions. As the scrap metal market conditions fluctuate, so will our steel horseshoe prices. It is possible the prices will be changing monthly. They are hoping this situation will be temporary, and the scrap metal market will settle down in the next few months.
